At Wintersun Eskies, special attention is given to gentle and varied socialization, and basic training of our puppies.  All puppies are raised in our home as part of the family, and you can be assured that your puppy will receive an abundance of love and personal attention, and the highest quality health care and optimum diet while under my care.  A written contract is required, and a health guarantee is provided.

A custom inoculation schedule is used by our veterinarian to minimize adverse reactions to vaccinations, and new owners will be expected to adhere to that schedule until all puppy shots are completed at 18 weeks.  Puppies are not placed until 11-12 weeks of age in order to ensure as much as possible that inoculations are effective, and to avoid any undue stress and trauma to the puppy which may be caused by separating it from its home and littermates during the fear imprint period.  (This occurs in all breeds between approximately 8 to 11 weeks, during which time any bad experiences will affect the dog for its lifetime).  Puppies are able to bond effectively to their new owners, adjust well to new surroundings, and learn very quickly at 11-12 weeks of age, particularly with the good foundation they are given here.

During their time here, pups will be separated from their mom and littermates gradually and humanely, crate trained, learn some basic puppy manners, and be instilled with the foundations for easy housetraining.  Each puppy will be given daily individual attention and care to help ensure that he or she can mature into a healthy, happy dog who will make a pleasant lifelong companion.  It will then be up to you to continue this pattern.  Training is important, and is also very helpful for understanding and bonding with your new companion.  Therefore, not only will I recommend books, offer my assistance, or refer you to local training classes, but I also offer cash refund incentives on all companion puppies for completion of a beginning obedience class, obtaining a Canine Good Citizen certificate, and obtaining a novice Obedience or Agility title.  At the very least, puppy kindergarten classes are required.

Puppy placements are made to good homes only, and all potential puppy buyers will be thoroughly pre-screened (What to Expect).  All of my pups are precious, and priority will be given to each of their best interests.  After the sale, I will also encourage continued contact with each new owner, and make myself available for questions, education and assistance.  A written contract is made with each purchaser.  Companion/pet puppies are typically required to be spayed/neutered upon maturity, and will receive AKC "limited" registration.  This does not limit your ability to enter and compete in AKC performance events.  In addition, a deposit may be required which will be fully refunded upon proof of spay/neuter.  Ideally, show prospects will go to approved show homes with references.  However, I realize you may be considering showing for the first time (we all had to start somewhere), and fair consideration will be made on a case-by-case basis, again in the best interests of each individual puppy.

Because I believe that I am ultimately responsible for the well-being of each and every dog I cause to be brought into this world, purchasers must agree to return the dog to me if at any time they cannot keep it for any reason.  This helps me to ensure that the dogs will always have a good home, no matter what may happen in their owners’ lives.
